Turns out I’ve become just as useless at keeping this up to date as I thought I’d be. But we’ve been busy! February and March were mostly taken up by recording which far from ran smoothly, but then again does it ever? After a few location shifts, myself and Peter ended up heading down to a beautiful country house in Kilkenny where we recorded all of the vocals, some keys, guitars and percussion. Anyway it’s all coming together now and Peter is busy with the mixing so hopefully within the next couple of weeks we’ll be ready to send it off for mastering. I’ve been working with the very talented Gill Prenderville on the design too, check her out here: www.gillprenderville.com
In April I took a break from recording to go on a bit of a tour in Holland. I studied there a couple of years ago, so it was strange to go back but great to be playing with the musicians I’d met during my time there. We did a few shows in Tilburg, Breda, Amersfoort, Amsterdam and Nijmegen and will possibly be organising another tour together before the year is out.
In more recent news, we played in the Platform V competition for a slot at Oxegen 2011 last week and were chosen by the judges to go through to the final on June 25th. It’s in the Late Lounge in Kill, admission is 5euro and we’ll be sharing the stage with Fox.E and the Good Hands, Touchwood, Band on an Island, Colour Me Pink and Soldier’s Can’t Dance, as well as Miracle Bell who’ll be making a guest appearance. The winner will be determined by a mixture of points from the clapometer and from the judges, so feel free to come along and make loud noises (; Mark Doyle took some cool pictures at the semi-final which you can view by clicking the image.
Well that’s all for now, we hope to be gigging all over the place throughout the summer so keep an eye on our facebook which I’ll be updating regularly!
