Just a note to say thank you and happy new year to everyone who’s supported my musical endeavours this year! It’s been an eventful one, from touring New Zealand to finishing my MA in Community Music and everything in between.
December itself was predictably mental. Highlights include (but are not limited to!) a trip to DCU for the Dementia Elevate Awards with the Past Times Community Choir, performing my songs with a string section in The Cobblestone, doing a festive ditty with The Evertides, having everyone sing along at our Calliopa jazz night, conducting the St James’ Hospital staff choir at their Christmas recital, singing in Crumlin Hospital with The Gospel Project…I could go on. I’ll be rounding off the month – and year – by playing some electric jigger (that’s guitar to all you non-culchies) with The Young Folk at the Turning Pirate NYE Mix Tape in Vicar Street tonight. Yeow!
It’s been a really enjoyable whirlwind but now I’m looking forward to getting down to work on the new album in January. Songs = written. Procrastination period = complete. Inevitable phase of crippling self doubt = currently being bullied into submission. The second album is a notoriously difficult beast, especially when your first album was, y’know, such a massive hit. The pressure to follow up with a string of equally thumping earworms is almost unbearable.
Might get David Guetta involved to spice things up. Will keep you posted.
In the meantime, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
